Despite being an academic and analyst, and having lived a life centered on fact rather than fiction, I'm an avid consumer and wannabe creator of fiction. Sometimes, fiction can tell the truth more effectively than fact.
With that in mind, I keep writing. I'm just starting out, and can already see there's just as much rejection in writing as in academia - difference is it hurts more because you care more about the product.
My latest gig is as a ghost writer of spy fiction. One day, I want to write under my own name. I'll keep trying cos it's both cathartic and fun. "Hey, hey, look at him boss, deader than hell, but won't let go".
